Now Aussies prefer savings accounts to shares
29.4 per cent of people surveyed by Westpac said bank accounts are the wisest place to stash savings. Only 9.5 per cent of people said shares were the best place for savings.
Superannuation was preferred by just 5.2 per cent of respondents.
In the early 2000s, more than 30 per cent of people in the same survey thought shares were the smartest place to put their money.
