One million Aussies to seek charity

One million people will access emergency relief to help pay bills or to get food to feed their family next year says the federal government. Community Services minister Jenny Macklin will announce an extra $55 million for charitably agencies today, including an extra $12 million for financial counsellors. The money is part of an $80 million package for agencies providing financial and charitable assistance to families experiencing financial hardship.
