Optus lifts call rates

Some of Optus’s older mobile customers will face increased call costs effective January 2002.

Peak call charges to other Optus mobiles and other mobiles will be 40c per 30 seconds, increasing from 22c and 27.5c respectively. Optus has abolished the discounts for Optus to Optus calls. Call rates for mobiles to fixed lines remain unchanged.

The new rates will affect approximately 5 per cent of Optus customers on plans that are no longer available to new customers including the Everyday, Freestyle, National and Yes plans.
