Overseas credit card holders investigated

Holders of offshore credit cards are coming under the scrutiny of the tax office. The ATO is investigating the transactions of 4,800 card holders, including 1,800 referred by a global taskforce on tax evasion. The tax office says people are using the cards, often issued in tax haven countries, to pay for tax free lifestyles in Australia. Twenty four cases have been finalised and have raised $4 million for the government.
