Plans for Badgery’s Creek airport scrapped

Plans to build a second airport for Sydney at Badgery’s Creek will not proceed after being vetoed by Federal cabinet. Inner city residents upset by aircraft noise from the existing airport will be angered by the decision, as will country residents as regional airlines will be expected to operate out of Bankstown airport. The decision to abandon the Badgery’s Creek airport will make way for other Government transport upgrades. These will include road and rail upgrades to improve the connection between Sydney and Bankstown airports, improved arterial roads and local road building and a high speed express train between Sydney and Canberra.
