RBA acts on email scam

The Reserve Bank of Australia has become involved in an offshore email scam designed to persuade customers into revealing their bank account details. Yesterday morning “phishing” emails were sent out targeting ANZ, Westpac and Commonwealth customers. By late afternoon the Australian Computer Emergency Response Team (AusCERT) acting on information provided by the RBA, tracked down and disabled three of the four offending websites that sent the emails, in France, Germany and the US.
