RBA figures show lending climb
Continued strong lending for housing drove April's monthly credit growth to its biggest monthly increase in five months. The total level of housing loans rose 1.6 per cent, or $8.7 billion, in April. It's the second consecutive month of housing finance growth as measured by the Reserve Bank, however, Bureau of Statistics figures show declining home lending. RBA figures showed total home lending in April was 20.4 per cent up on the same period in 2003. Personal lending, including credit cards and consumer loans, leapt 14.5 per cent.
