Rural payphones to get $4m revamp

Payphones across rural Australia will get a Telstra make over after the telco announced plans to spend $4 million to upgrade public phones. The existing payphones will undergo a redesign that will better equip them to withstand environmental damage and vandalism. A new technology called CT3H will be used in the improvements. An estimated 450 Aboriginal communities will have their payphones upgraded over the next two years. Remote SA and WA communities will also benefit from the planned upgrade.
