Slap on the wrist for mobile phone companies

Mobile phone companies will be placed under scrutiny after numerous complaints from consumers claiming that they have been subjected to unethical sale techniques and overly aggressive debt collection. As a result, new advertising substantiation laws for mobile phones will be implemented by the NSW Department of Fair trading. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission have also warned mobile phone companies and retailers on misleading and unfair conduct. In addition, the NSW Legal Aid Commission is attempting to bring a case against mobile phone companies that will divulge unscrupulous practices.
