Tentative embrace of the digital signature

Westpac has been the frontrunner in the development of electronic communication with customers. Twelve months ago the bank started offering customers an e-statement for their savings and cheque accounts. Following the passage of the UCCC amendments, the bank started sending out letters to credit card customers at the end of July, offering them e-statements. ING Direct said their bank was not ready to send out contract documents via email or accept digital signatures.
