The average mortgage size is increasing

The Australian Bureau of Statistics reports that value of housing finance commitments rose one per cent in June 2014, compared with the previous month (in seasonally adjusted terms).

Since the start of 2014 the monthly value of new housing finance commitments has increased 3.4 per cent.

The average loan size has climbed from $304,500 to $327,000 in the 12 months to June – an increase of 7.4 per cent.
