Two years of double digit growth for Super
Superannuation funds averaged returns of 13.7 per cent in the 2005 calendar, the second year in row of double digit growth. Super funds earned a slightly higher median return of 14.9 per cent in 2004. The motor trades based MTAA fund topped the industry, recording growth of 19.3 per cent, with Westscheme second with 17.7 per cent. Both funds were heavily exposed to alternative asset classes. Other good performers in 2005 were Zurich Financial Services, STA, Cbus, ARF and QSuper.
