Voters want the rich off gravy train

Voters have come out in support of plans by the federal government to apply means testing to government hand-outs. A Newspoll has found that 65 per cent of those surveyed want the baby bonus means tested and 64 per cent want tests applied to the Family Tax Benefit Part B which is paid to stay-at-home mothers. Even amongst Coalition voters 57 per cent agree with means testing the baby bonus and 60 per cent want the Family Tax Benefit Part B means tested. The news is not all good for Labor though, as 52 per cent would prefer to not receive the promised income tax cuts to help avoid another rise in interest rates.
