Will interest rates go up or down in 2016?

The Reserve Bank of Australia will keep interest rates on hold in February. 10 senior bank and market economists all say the RBA will leave the cash rate at 2 per cent for the ninth month in a row.

While the economists do not expect significantly higher rates in 2016, some of the economists are tipping at least one further cash rate cut this year. AMP’s Shane Oliver said it's clear that a rate cut is still several months away.
