Wind-up rechargers for mobiles soon
Mobile handset manufacturer Motorola is to make a device that will allow phone users to recharge their mobile phone battery by winding it up like an old watch.
The ‘clockwork charger' will work with any mobile phone on the market and is expected to go on sale at the end of this year.
The wind-up charger will provide 6 minutes of talk time or 2 hours standby time. The mobile charger has been developed by FreePlay Energy which invented the clockwork radio. New Scientist magazine says that devices like these could pave the way for a clockwork revolution.
