What can introductory rate cards offer?

Designed by banks and credit unions to entice new customers, introductory rate credit cards may offer considerable benefits, including bonus rewards, no fees or reduced interest rates for a special introductory period.

Introductory rate cards are an attractive product when used wisely, but remember that they will revert to higher rates once the introductory period is up.

Our comparison table lays out the benefits, rates and specific offers of different introductory rate credit cards, so you can choose the best card for your needs.

“Sponsored” products are displayed first within the search results pages and can be re-sorted without this filter by de-selecting the “Show sponsored listings first” checkbox. For more information on how we’ve selected these “Sponsored” and “Featured” products click here.

*The First Year Cost Comparison is the total interest payable over one year on a monthly outstanding balance of $3,000 plus the credit card’s annual fee. Introductory purchase rate offers and balance transfer offers are taken into account where applicable.

**The Spend required is based on the approximate everyday spending needed to redeem a $100 gift card or a return flight from Sydney to Melbourne from the rewards program, given the credit card’s point earning capability. For rewards programs that do not have a set number of points to redeem flights, the approximate spend is based on a $300 travel voucher. Bonus point offers and point capping are not included in the calculation.
