$1.2m for mobile cancer study

Recent media coverage and growing public concern about the potential health risks involved with mobile phone usage – in particular the development of cancer – has prompted the Federal Government to hand over $1.2 million to researchers to further investigate the matter. Minister for Health Dr Wooldridge said that the funds would back research examining whether mobile phone use contributed or heightened the chance of developing brain, salivary gland or auditory nerve tumours.
