Number portability complaints fall

The number of complaints by customers over mobile phone number portability is starting to wane, according to a report by the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, John Pinnock. The most frequent complaint is over delays in porting between providers, but overall the total number has declined.

There was a total of 867 complaints during the quarter, with more than half of those received during September and October, dropping off rapidly after that.

Despite this improvement the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman says he is concerned about the high termination fees being charged by some providers to customers for terminating their contracts and porting to other mobile phone companies.
