Flight West into liquidation

Regional Queensland airline Flight West, established in 1987, has gone into liquidation and is no longer operating any of its scheduled flights.

Directors of the company decided that the debts hanging over it had reached a level that did not warrant the airline continuing operations.

Industry analysts say the demise of Flight West reflects the current tough times in regional aviation. The recent collapses of Country Connections and Impulse Airlines bear this out. The regional market is said to be under greater pressure than any other part of the aviation industry.
