Jackson believed to be exiting Chairman’s lounge

Institutional investor unrest will likely mean Margaret Jackson will not stand for re-election at the next annual meeting, an announcement on her future is expected to be made this morning post the completion of an adjourned board meeting. Jackson was a vocal supporter of the failed Airline Partners Australia (APA)bid and it is thought she would be unlikely to survive a vote for re-election at the annual meeting later this year. Qantas shares fell just 3 cents to $5.25 on news that APA will not be making a second bid despite warnings early in the initial bid process from Jackson and APA that Qantas shares could go fall to as low as $4.20 if the APA bid failed.
