ANZ Online Saver account

The ANZ online saver account is an online only savings account, so you aren’t able to access it in branch. It needs to be linked to an eligible ANZ bank account.

When you open your first online saver account, you are eligible for a three month bonus interest period, where you receive a boosted interest rate. There are no monthly account fees, nor minimum balance necessary for the bonus interest rate.

ANZ Progress Saver account

The ANZ progress saver has a very low base interest rate (0.01% p.a). However, the appeal of this product is the bonus interest rate available for customers who make at least one deposit of $10 per more each month, and don’t make any withdrawals. Again, there are no account service fees.

Once you make a transaction in any given month, be it electronic or staff assisted, you are ineligible for the bonus interest rate. Any subsequent transactions occur the following fees:

  • Electronic transactions: $1 each

  • Staff assisted transactions: $2.50 each

The progress saver account is ideal for people with a saving target, who are looking for a ‘set and forget’ savings account.

ANZ Access Advantage account

The ANZ Access Advantage account is ANZ’s everyday transaction account. While not among its range of savings accounts, customers with balances of $50,000 and above can still earn interest, albeit at very small rates. The Access Advantage account has a $5 monthly fee, but this is waived if the customer deposits more than $2,000 in that month.

ANZ Plus Save

The highest maximum rate available for ANZ’s range of savings accounts is via the ANZ Plus service, with the ANZ Plus save. When you join ANZ Plus, you always get an ANZ Plus everyday account and a multi goal ANZ Plus save account. The savings account offers smart tools that let you set up and track up to 99 savings goals. However it’s available via the ANZ Plus app only.

ANZ Pensioner Advantage

If you receive a Centrelink or veteran affairs pension, you could be eligible to open an ANZ Pensioner Advantage account. This product has no monthly fees, as well as unlimited transactions with no cost.

Pensioner advantage accounts do receive interest, tiered based on the size of the balance. If there is less than $10,000 in the account, the interest rate is fairly minimal, but it increases above this threshold, and then again once the balance exceeds $50,000.
