Comsec launches Voice Broker

Comsec today launched Voice Broker, an addition to its online broking service, which enables members to obtain ASX share prices over the phone 24 hours per day. Voice recognition technology is used which matches a person's voice with prerecorded responses so that a stock price can be retrieved and communicated back to the user.

Other online brokers to use similar technology include TD Waterhouse (TalkBroker) and HSBC Investdirect (PhoneTrader). HSBC InvestDirect's PhoneTrader service also allows users to place trade orders using voice recognition technology, functionality which Comsec intends to add to Voice Broker shortly.

Cheaper brokerage fees for online trades together with automated voice responses for stock quotes and trades should help Comsec to reduce the negative publicity it has received in the past regarding its customer phone service.
