Visa shuts down sham websites
Visa International has detected and closed down several bogus websites which it says compromised the security of its cardholders' accounts. The replica websites attempted to collect personal financial data. The credit card company said it had also been alerted to several scam e-mails. Visa said it never contacts customers by e-mail or telephone asking for personal information and all such requests should be regarded as fraudulent. Customers receiving phone calls or e-mails asking for account information should contact Visa on (02) 9253 8800.
