Your credit card will soon be your train ticket

The NSW Government announced a customer trial of debit and credit card contactless payments for public transport. Mastercard Australia said NSW commuters will no longer have to worry about topping up fare accounts. Visitors to NSW will find navigating Sydney ‘as easy as tap and go.’

MasterCard said some of the biggest cities – such as London, Moscow, and Singapore – already have contactless card payments for transport.

“London Buses paved the way for contactless payment use in transit in December 2012 and expanded across the city’s network in 2014.”
