Great news from Turnbull for credit card holders

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has accepted all but one of the 44 recommendations from David Murray’s Financial System Inquiry report.

That means credit card users can look forward to a ban on unfair credit card surcharges, possibly as soon as early in 2016.

The government will legislate to ban credit card surcharges that are greater than the cost of accepting a payment by credit card. This crackdown will be phased in.
